My Story

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a lover of animals and have been working with birds for over a decade. Like most Aviculturalists, my passion for birds began at a very young age. My grandfather was an avid bird enthusiast and he made sure to involve me in his hobby from the very beginning. I still have fond memories of filling the bird feeders together, running off with his binoculars and a field guide, and taking adventures down wooded trails to find eagle nests. Through our regular early morning walks, I grew up with a strong appreciating for nature.

As someone who loves nature and biology, I was particularly attracted to birds. Studying their life cycle was fascinating to me, watching all the stages from single birds, to pairs, to eggs, and hatching babies.

I started with my first pair of sun conures when I was 20. Just 5 years later I had accumulated quite a large collection ranging from Patagonian Conures to Blue-Throated Macaws and African Greys.

I’m constantly learning, and love helping to educate others in aviculture. I regularly attend bird fairs, conferences, and other events around the country to continue furthering my education and aid in conservation efforts. I’m passionate about working with different species and love being able to share that passion with others.

Our Aviary

Over the years, raising birds has become a family affair! Both of my children have turned out to share the same passion for animals that I do, and they love to help raise the babies. They’re my professional bird socializers!
