What We Feed

It’s very important to me that all my birds have a healthy diet and are familiar with a variety of foods. I try to give them something different every day to stimulate their interest and make sure they are getting as much nutrition as they would if they were foraging for themselves.

All parrots have similar basic nutritional needs, but I have found that diet is a very personal topic for each individual bird owner. My birds are provided with pellets, seed mixes, seasonal mixed vegetables, legumes, leafy greens, and fruits depending on the individual needs of each species. We soak our own sprout mix every day to provide fresh food. Then theres fruit, nectar, mealworms, and mice, depending on the requirements of the different birds.

There are a lot of different commercially available seed and pellet options, and you can purchase some of our favorites through our Amazon affiliate links. We’ve used Zupreem, Mazuri, Roudybush, Psittacus, and other brands. Currently we’re using a custom pellet formula specially manufactured for our partner, Avian Resources.
